Wikipedia:Requests for page protection
Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here. | ||
---|---|---|
Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection) After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:ProtectedPages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.
Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level
Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level
Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here |

Current requests for increase in protection level
Place requests for protection increases at the BOTTOM of this section. If you cannot find your request, check the archive of requests or, failing that, the page history. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.
Temporary extended confirmed protection: Persistent disruptive editing – Article of an extremist political party in the UK (splinter of an out and out neo-Nazi group); repreatedly targetted by party members to downlay this very fact (see Talk:Homeland Party (United Kingdom)#Ideology, including the party founder himself). Jad previously requested a PP as well but there now appears to be a renewed effort to disregard consensus by COI editors (new single-purpose accounts) who participated in the dicussion themselves in the Talk page. Asking for a midterm ECP, as I don't see the targeted disruption stopping anytime soon (going on for over an year now). Gotitbro (talk) 16:30, 19 April 2025 (UTC)
Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. Looks like it's calmed down. Callanecc (talk • contribs • logs) 00:38, 21 April 2025 (UTC)
Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – Addition of WP:COMMENTARY. Vestrian24Bio 16:42, 19 April 2025 (UTC)
Semi-protected for a period of 2 days, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Callanecc (talk • contribs • logs) 00:38, 21 April 2025 (UTC)
Temporary full protection: Content dispute/edit warring – IP number and regular user in an edit war. Talk page is getting acrimonious (mostly but not solely on the IP side). Erp (talk) 23:12, 19 April 2025 (UTC)
Consider the edit warring noticeboard – This is a case of possible edit-warring by one or two users. Both editors notified of CTOP, re-report if it continues. Callanecc (talk • contribs • logs) 00:39, 21 April 2025 (UTC)
Reason: In the lead-up to the 2025 Philippine Senate elections scheduled for May 12, 2025, the article has been repeatedly targeted by anonymous users introducing politically motivated edits, unsourced claims, and biased language. These disruptions compromise the neutrality and reliability of the article, particularly as political campaigning intensifies and public attention increases. This request is consistent with Wikipedia’s protection policy, which permits page protection in cases of persistent vandalism or disruption during high-profile events such as national elections.[1]
The 2025 Senate race is highly competitive, with 12 seats up for election and multiple high-profile candidates generating substantial public and media interest.[2] Political discourse surrounding these candidates has already led to disinformation efforts on various platforms, which can spill into Wikipedia edits.[3]
Given these circumstances, semi-protection is requested to prevent further disruption and ensure that the article remains a stable and reliable source of information during this politically sensitive time. Enzoeditwikicom (talk) 14:45, 20 April 2025 (UTC)
- this explanation sounds like it’s written with AI, so… it’s because new users keep adding unsourced candidates to the article, and keep adding Heidi to the senate slate section even though she’s not on the slate. ApexParagon (talk) 23:39, 20 April 2025 (UTC)

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. Accepting the reason for the sake of argument, as some of the editors who have been reverted are extended confirmed this would need full protection which I don't believe is justified. Callanecc (talk • contribs • logs) 00:41, 21 April 2025 (UTC)
Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – Repeated unconstructive edits by IPs. Trailblazer101 (talk) 14:55, 20 April 2025 (UTC)
Semi-protected for a period of 1 month, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Callanecc (talk • contribs • logs) 00:42, 21 April 2025 (UTC)

Reason : Temporary semi-protection - After the new White House publication, a lot of new, somewhat POV-pushing new editors have come to try to push the lab leak theory against community consensus. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Wildfireupdateman (talk • contribs) 16:11, 20 April 2025 (UTC)

Reason: persistant IP vandalism/disruptive editing dating back months from a sockpuppet master. Several IP blocks futile as new IPs come to continue the vandalism. Currently has two IPs blocked, has returned to continue disruptive editing PizzaKing13 (¡Hablame!) 🍕👑 20:27, 20 April 2025 (UTC)

Current requests for reduction in protection level
Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.
- To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
- Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
- Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
- If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.
Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

- A draft that's ready to go would make an argument for undeletion more compelling. —Jéské Couriano v^_^v threads critiques 15:29, 19 April 2025 (UTC)
- I don't know all the shows of this actor. I can't request a refund of the earlier drafts because they seem to be created by socks. So can the deleted version of this article be restored to draftspace? Iamaninnocentsoul (talk) 15:57, 19 April 2025 (UTC)

Temporary pending changes protection: simi-protected is overkill 54rt678 (talk) 23:31, 20 April 2025 (UTC)
- (Non-administrator comment) I'd argue protection should be increased since every edit this month has been various back and forth edit wars. If this is occurring at semi-level, I don't want to think about the instability at unprotected. This is not a calm and stable article and for that alone it should not be lowered. Current requests for edits to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here
Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.
- Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among
{{Edit protected}}
,{{Edit template-protected}}
,{{Edit extended-protected}}
, or{{Edit semi-protected}}
to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed. - Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the
{{Edit COI}}
template should be used. - Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
- If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
- This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.
